I am new to HANA migration , currently am planning to migrate our SAP BW 7.4 SP9 system to HANA,  and I have already installed the HANA system and its up and running.

Our source BW system is on Windows/SQL server and HANA is on Linux and both are hosted on AWS cloud. Now I have a challenge to run the migration using DMO, because couple of blogs says DMO cannot be used for Windows as its uses memory pipes and some say we can switch the mode by changing the parameter.

So can someone confirm If I can run DMO using SUM 14  for the migration by changing the parameter from pipe to socket??? or do I need to use SWPM to use either the File mode or socket mode as DMO doesn't support Windows??

I even tried the SUM benchmark tool and  thought I can run the migration using the benchmark tool, later I found its using memory pipes and I cannot perform the migration. So can we really use benchmarking tool for the real migration or only it is used to analyse and estimate the time of DMO.

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

  I'm importing several Support Packages to update my Solution Manager 7.1 System up to Solution Tools ST SP14 (SAPKITL714). I used the SPAM Queue Calculator to add all the required Support Packages and extra Components.

Unfortunatelly the process stopped in the IMPORT_PROPER phase due to missing Tables.

- Error in phase:        IMPORT_PROPER

- Reason for error:    TP_STEP_FAILURE

  I've found out that SAP Note 2223723 states that the SPAM Check Component Software have an error for the

Component UISAPUI5 (It should be >= SP12 for SolMan 7.1 ST SP14).   The missing tables seems to belong to the UISAPUI5 component.

  The solution in this SAP Note is to modify the Check Component Software to force to check the UISAPUI5 Component to be greather than SP 12 BEFORE applying the Support Package 7.1 SP14, but this is too late because we already have the problem in the Import_Proper phase.

What can we do to fix the error?

Should we apply SAP Note 1022755 to force the Import phase to skip the Check up for these Tables during the IMPORT_PROPER phase? Won't this be a problem later for the UISAPUI5 Component and Tables that weren't updated by this Support Package?

Should we do a system recover and start over the process?

Hi Experts,

we are performing a upgrade from 7.3 to 7.4. Generated the stack file containing all latest patches from marketplace.

During the configuration phase, we get the validation queue as OK, but there is a warning message stating

"Verification of Signed components finished with status warning "

Check verify-signed-content.log

When checking the VERIFY-SIGNED-CONTENT.LOG file, there are around 5 patches of components with warning messages as below

PM [Warning]: Cannot verify archive /saptest/ABC/VCKITBI06P_1-20010062.SCA : Cannot perform verification, because archive /saptest/ABC/VCKITBI06P_1-20010062.SCA does not contain a META-INF/SAP_DIGSIG_MANIFEST.MF file.

We opened the SCA file and indeed the META-INF/SAP_DIGSIG_MANIFEST.MF file is missing.

All other components have this manifest file and have been successfully verified except for this 5 patches.

My query is how do we sort this out. Tried downloading the SCA files many times, still the same issue.

Is there any issue if I continue the step ignoring this warning?

Has anyone faced similar issues. Pls Suggest

i uncared the SUM version: 1.0.12.6 and started the sum tool in RHEL6 using SIDADM as user and using http://hostname:4239 to start the sum tool GUI in windows PC with JAVA version in JAVA8 i'm facing below error which relaeted to JAVA version but i'm not sure i'm attaching all the screenshots please suggest to solve the issue.

Dear folks,

As i know that there is near Zero Downtime Minimized option in SUM (as show in attached screen cap).

Anyone know that if this option exist in DMO (as part of SUM which is ideal option for HANA migration) as well?

I go through the document & blog of DMO, the term and option of nZDM is not mentioned.

Sorry that i should test myself but I don't have enough to prepare the source system,  tools and xml..etc..and have to propose the downtime optimize for HANA migration project soon...

we are running a SUM (1.0 SP14) on a SAP system (Windows 2012 R2) an we need to change the transport directory that SUM ist currently using. Please see screenshot below for the error message. We were already modifying the SAP profiles and restarting the process - no luck on that. Does anybody know where SUM pulls out that information so we can change it?

we are applying Netweaver 7.3 patches through SUM 1.0 SPS12, and encountered an error during phase downtime phase "MAIN_PROFSTART/SUBMOD_INSTNR_CHG/MOD_INSTNR_PRE!", I found the issue and I tried to update the shadow system instance profile, but when I repeat the phase the values are lost and old values are taking effect. does somebody know from where SUM is reading the old profile?

I am trying to use SUM SP14 and facing with stupid questions how to use this tool.

I have successfully applied Java SPStack with SUM and now I need to apply another patch but I don't understand how to return to the "Welcome screen".

Do I need to delete SUM directory and unpack SUM.sar again?

But if I try to delete/rename SUM folder MS warning message appears "Folder is open in another program..." So how to stop SUM processes? In SUM guide there is information about stoning Software Update Manager via Task Manager, but I can't see SAPup processes in Task Manager.

While running an ERP EHP7 Upgrade, in phase RUN_CRR_LAST Phase im unable to proceed.

First this phase failed since PXA was too small, so many tables cancelled, therefore I fixed this issue by increasing abap buffersize parameter and no more dumps were found

Im able to login to shadow instannce - Transaction CRR_CONTROL and its in yellow state, ready to be started.

If I started in manually, the upgrade says there is another so It has to be stopped. Then i restart the SUM process and it fails again

Hii guyz i did undertood what is SPAM . I t is tx code for support packages. After tht i started reading about SAINT and surprisingly it seemed same as SPAM. Though SAINT is for Add ons or plug ins the documentation http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d7/56e89a884b11d2b422006094b9ea64/frameset.htm

given is saying support packs can be installed with SAINT. Can anyone plzz explain the exclusive difference.

when there is a system  upgrade i understand that all the modifications happen on the shadow instance. then the downtime part starts, what does it really do with the modified data of the shadow instance? what happens with the repository objects that are stored on the ~ tables? at which point the shadow is deinstalled?

However when I try to access the above link I am unable to launch the frontend, I get the below error:

One more thing to be noted that I cannot see the SAPup process running at OS level.

Any idea what could be wrong here, I am unable to find any other error in logs.

during Support Package deployment with SUM for an java only system we receive following error in the last step Finalization 5.0:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded

We aren't not able to identify the root cause for this issue.

Could someone help us here?

We are planning a migration of  an ERP EHP6 system based on NW 7.31 (ABAP only, Oracle database) with R3load-migration method.

After a first run in which the target system is set up, we will need to make a second step to refresh only the Oracle database, always using an R3load export of the source system.

Using SWPM, it is unclear which media should we use in the second step  - database refresh.

In the 70SWPM....SAR media we can't find a refresh option under "system copy" node.

In the SWPM...SAR media instead we have the "database refresh or move" option under "system copy" node.

Should we use the 70SWPM....SAR media for the initial setup of the target system and the SWPM...SAR media for the database refresh?

Hello Experts,

This could happen on any type of system I suspect, but it is on my Solution Manager (7.01 on Eh1). I downloaded a support stack (27)and was checking the components requirements.  I use the  Directory box in SPAM, and I go into New Support Packages. I highlight the support package for ST 400 then click on the Queue button.   It comes back with this message: OCS package SAPKITL437 does not match the current software component vector.

I click continue and the requirements window comes up. It shows that I have currently loaded the wrong BI_Content.  It says:  Non-permitted release of add-on BI_CONT installed.  The release information is BI_CONT,706.

If I go back to the main window to look at the current package level, I see that BI_CONT  component release (loaded) is 704 - sp 8. 

I must have gotten very creative when loading that back in 2008.  MOPZ was used, but it was before the support stack restrictions were in place on my system.

I can't get around this issue, because even trying to load the Basis support package I get this message. 

If anyone has had the problem and knows what to do I would appreciate some help.  Notes searching has not found anything.     So far my Customer message  has not been helpfull, but it is not SAP support .
